Special Interest Groups

Spirituality & Health - The Health Awareness Ministry is sponsoring this new small group.  This group will bring together elements of health (physical and emotional), with spiritual health and well-being.  It will encompass a whole range of possibilities for whole-health disciplines.  Examples include:  yoga, spiritual disciplines, labyrinth experiences, retreats, Taize worship, diet and exercise, book sharing, etc.  Sign up today if you are interested.

Caregivers - Caregivers meet for respite, sharing, and resource-building with other caregivers on the 4th Tuesday of each month at a member's home from 2-4 pm.  Caregivers are usually women, taking care of homebound spouses or parents.  Others who have similar responsibilities with home care or hospice also participate in the group.  Some who have cared for tohers, and are now widowed or helping in capacities are also welcome.

Chancel Choir - The Chancel Choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings (September - May), and on Sunday mornings during the summer.  The choir prepares music for the 11:00 am traditional worship service on Sunday morning.  All interested singers are encouraged to join the choir.  There is also an occassional trip, a fall retreat, and always good fellowship.

Bell Choir - The Bell Choir rehearses Wednesday evenings (September - May) under the direction of Dr. Wayne Kidwell.  It prepares selections for occasional Sunday morning worship services and special events.  Experience is not required.

Current Events Small Group - This group meets on the fourth Sunday evening of each month at the Church to discuss a news topic from a Christian perspective.  Members suggest topics and also act as facilitators for discussion.  Recent meetings have covered immigration, environmental protection, poverty, and Christianity in the public square.

Centennial Events - 2009 will mark the centenial of the organization of First Presbyterian Church, Turlock.  A number of events are being planned in honor of the occasion.  The official celebration is scheduled for September 2009.  We are planning to build a float for Turlock's Fourth of July Parade this year.  If you love gala events, party planning, or local history, this is a great way for you to get involved.

Note that other special interest groups can be found on the "Fellowship Groups" page.
